Four Track Friday

Four Track Friday
Episode 1

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the first ever Four Track Friday!

21 of you signed up and you each have my thanks. I'm stoked to kick it off.

This week’s records are all recently released (one today!) and come from artists with monthly listener totals ranging from between less than 300 and more than 3 million.

Dark dreampop - I am a Road by Lorelei

Lorelei is a brand-new Australian project from Claudia Schmidt and Arlen McCarthy and this is their first track, which released June 20th. I love bedroom pop (as defined by artists like Clairo and Jay Som) already and it’s exciting to hear a group take it in a new direction.

Guitar-driven indie rock - Sunday Driver by The Raconteurs

Jack White’s most accessible project released a new album on June 21st, and I enjoyed listening to it. This track is definitely my favorite; something about the first thirty seconds just ropes me into the other three minutes.

Cerebral electronica — Velvia by edapollo

Representing Ed Bidgood’s electronic project, edapollo is one of my favorite up-and-coming downbeat artists. Freshly released on the morning of July 5th and in advance of his upcoming debut album, this track’s simultaneous use of subtle, sampled sounds and downtempo beats never gets old. I am excited to see what else is on the way from this guy.

Groovy hip-hop — Chance by bitlate ft. Olive Amun

I have played this track over and over since its release on April 26th, and it still hasn’t lost its appeal. As you listen you'll notice your head bobbing as the track alternates between its rhythmic verses and a swaying hook. It reminds me of Mac Miller and it’s great to hear his influence live on.

Of course, don’t forget to reply with what you liked, didn’t like, and what you’ve been listening to.

And, as always, this week’s tracks are added to the collectors for all weeks' tracks on Spotify and Apple Music.

Cheers,
Tanner
