Four Track Friday

4 Track Friday
Episode 74

Hi friends,

Another "better late than never" week, but I'm stoked to be getting it out as it's a proxy guest hosted week. Thanks to Brit, Alex, Joe, and Devon for the tracks :)

Indie Rock | Artificial Light | Typhoon

Live on KEXP

"Hey Brit can you think of anything for today's 4 Track?"

"Have you ever heard of Typhoon?"

"No. What's the scoop?"

"Oh they're this really cool 12-piece band from Portland that I saw live and loved. They're right up your alley."

"Oh nice, I'll just have to write something up."

"Isn't this the write up?"

"Oh yeah, I guess it is."

Electronic Cardio | Milky Way | Cherry Coke

Last week, Alex and I ventured into the sounds that got us into electronic music. We reminisced of the tracks that included at least one minute of intro and another of outro, but vibe so hard it's worthwhile. I spared you from one of the longer examples, but this is one of those.

Folk Rock | Bird Balloons | Lady Lamb

Live on KEXP

Aly Spaltro's debut album is a it's a 12-track epic that Joe suggested I listen to a few weeks ago and, as always, I'm glad I did. On "Bird Balloons," my personal favorite, she sings, whispers, shouts and while it can be a fatiguing listen I absolutely love how its raw passion lands in the soul.

Rap | DIET_ | Denzel Curry (feat. Kenny Beats)

Live on triple j

After Joe sent me this track, Devon suggested it for today's episode so it had to go in. As my first exposure to Denzel Curry, this one definitely gets me interested to check out more of his discography and maybe it will do the same for you. His use of several voices keep me from getting settled, while his wordplay stays easy to follow and satisfyingly punny. Plus I don't know about you, but after Thanksgiving this track definitely carries a much needed message.

Of course, don’t forget to reply with what you liked, didn’t like, and what you’ve been listening to.

And, as always, this week’s tracks are added to the collectors for all weeks' tracks on Spotify and Apple Music.

Cheers,
Tanner
