So I really don't like Christmas music, but since it is Christmas day I am obligated to share at least one. Joel The Lump of Coal is a non traditional Christmas song by the very well known band The Killers. I like it because the song is personifying a lump of coal, Jimmy Kimmel is the voice of Santa, and that's it.
Moving on from the holiday jingles, we have a Seattle native, Tomo Nakayama. Tomo’s music is chill, upbeat, and has super melodic tones. Some of his music gives me strong Elliot Smith vibes, like "Miss Misery." I found this song via my discover weekly and let me just say: *in to it*.
Another song on my discover weekly from a few weeks ago, "Calling out" is IS TROPICAL's first song since 2016. Similar to Tomo, Is Tropical has fun punchy indie vibes with their music and it's a lot of what I’ve been listening to this year apart from Harry Styles. The first time I heard this band was when Kaitlin played their V interesting music video for the song "The Greeks."
In honor of making it to the almost-end of 2020, this song is dedicated to all of us. We survived! Ok, besides that, this cover is incredible and DJ’s contribution to 4TF this week.
(DJ now...) A slow and epic cover of my favorite Destiny’s Child song, done by a duo out of Hamburg, Germany. I hope this song will inspire everyone as they begin to write their new year's resolutions and as we look forward to a year that hopefully isn’t as much of a dumpster fire as 2020.
Of course, don’t forget to reply with what you liked, didn’t like, and what you’ve been listening to.
And, as always, this week’s tracks are added to the collectors for all weeks' tracks on Spotify and Apple Music.
With Love,
Rachel & DJ
